 Meet local author:

Erna Walraven
February 16th 10:30am

Wild Leadership – What Wild Animals Teach Us About Leadership, New Holland Publishers, Sydney.

Care of Australian Wildlife (Revised), New Holland Publishers, Sydney. This one has been in reprint a few times.

Erna Walraven, now a Bellingen local, was born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia via Spain in the 1980s. She has looked after wild animals for more than three decades, including 20 years as Senior Curator at Taronga Zoo in Sydney where she was responsible for the scientific management of some 400 species. She is fascinated by the evolutionary history and thus similarities we share with animals.

Erna has written several books about caring for Australian native wildlife including the first Australian publication on wildlife rehabilitation and a manual on how to wash a duck. (Oiled wildlife). Her latest book, ‘Wild Leadership, what wild animals teach us about leadership’ was released in late 2019. She has just finished a new manuscript titled ‘Wild Fathers, a celebration of exotic parenting’.

Erna will talk about how a zookeeper became a writer, the joy of reading and writing and answer any or all questions about wild animals.
