With all the excitement leading up to this year’s Grassroots Writers’ Weekend 8 to 10 May, which was heavily subscribed and disappointing that we had to turn so many participants away due to limited spaces being available at the venue.
The weekend is now over and we are extremely pleased with the final outcome demonstrating that Coffs Harbour Writers Group’s ability to plan and present an amazing array of concurrent workshops and plenary sessions suitable for everyone’s needs to learn additional knowledge and writing techniques. And of course the invaluable social interaction during the optional dinners forged new friendships amongst the writing community.
Participants came from all areas of our region, some with limited writing skills to advanced skills and the entire variable in between.
The event created an environment to network during the weekend with like-minded attendees, including the formation of a new writers group south of Coffs.
Feedback received to-date is encouraging with comments for this year’s event were comparable to the inaugural Dorrigo Writers’ Group event held last year.
“Wonderful few days, workshops were fantastic, want to go back and start all over again, especially the workshops unable to attend, splendid job in providing the talented presenters am pumped, congratulations to everyone involved, lots of energy, excitement and interesting sharing of knowledge experienced”.
These events are a success by the level of energy and commitment to making it work. Our devoted and capable Coffs Harbour Writers Group’s organising sub-committee members did a fantastic job ensuring that everyone’s needs were achieved.
Next year’s Grassroots Writers’ Weekend will be hosted by Nambucca Valley Writers’ Group 1 to 3 April, 2016.
